                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Rabbi Levi Langer  -  Rosh Kollel/Dean 

Rabbi Levi Langer grew up in Brooklyn, New York; he attended Yeshiva Ner Israel and Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood. He delivers classes on all manner of Torah topics, and has developed a particular expertise in Jewish Medical Ethics.  He keeps the beis hamedrash learning spirited and erudite, and is the address for people with all sorts of Torah questions- from practical halacha to Tanach and Gemara to the more arcane reaches of the Torah spectrum. His wife, Rebbetzin Elky, a native Detroiter, is an assistant principal at Hillel Academy and has been a teacher, writer and editor for many years. In whatever spare time she has, she volunteers at the Kollel and serves on the Board of the Jewish Women's League.

                            Rabbi Doniel Schon- Associate Rosh Kollel

Rabbi Schon was born and raised in Queens, NY. He studied in the Yeshiva Gedolah of
Greater Washington, the Mir Yeshiva in Jerusalem and Beth Medrash Gavoha in Lakewood, NJ and received Yoreh Yoreh ordination from the Yeshiva Gedolah of Greater Washington. He subsequently joined the Cincinnati Community Kollel, where in addition to a full schedule of learning and teaching, developed many programs and initiatives to engage Jews of all ages and backgrounds. Upon leaving Cincinnati, Rabbi Schon founded the Ohr Torah Community Outeach Kollel in Rochester, NY. Rabbi Schon has a special interest in areas where technology, medicine and science intersect with Jewish law, and has studied and lectured extensively on these cutting edge topics. Dina Schon (nee Blumberg) grew up in Monsey, NY. She holds a degree in accounting from Touro College and has worked as a controller for Approved Funding Corp for 13 years.

                                                                            Rabbi Avrohom Rodkin - Director Of Education

Rabbi Avrohom Rodkin is originally from Far Rockaway, NY. He joined the Kollel in 2002 and the Kollel's administrative team in 2010, becoming the Director of Education in 2012. Rabbi Rodkin works closely with the yungerleit and office staff and is responsible for all Kollel educational activities which serve the Pittsburgh community. He oversees the day to day functioning of the Kollel and also leads the daily retirees' morning kollel group. Rabbi Rodkin has authored several seforim in both Hebrew and English. He received Semichah Yoreh Yoreh in 2002 from Rabbi Eli Ber Wachtfogel of Yeshiva Zichron Moshe. Mrs. Chani Rodkin grew up in Brooklyn, NY. She earned her B.A. in Psychology through Thomas Edison State College and was awarded a New York State teacher's certification. Mrs. Rodkin taught special education for several years followed by a decade of part-time teaching limudei kodesh to high school girls. In 2010, she left teaching to care for her growing family.

                                        Rabbi Binyomin Bauman

Rabbi Binyomin Bauman grew up in Teaneck, NJ. He attended Yeshiva Rabbi Samson Raphael Hirsch (Breuer’s) and then went on to Yeshiva Gedolah Kesser Torah in Monsey, where he became very close to the Rosh Hayeshiva, Harav Dovid Fishman. He then learned in the Mir Yeshiva in Yerushalayim before continuing his studies in Lakewood, NJ. Rabbi Bauman produces the weekly Torah Tidbits email and co-heads the very popular Father and Son learning program. His Wife Nechama Leah (Cahn) was raised in Washington Heights, NY. She holds a bachelor’s Degree in Biology and works as a medicaid planner for nursing homes.

                                                                
                                                           
  


                                         Rabbi Yosef Berkowitz

Rabbi Yossi Berkowitz is originally from Toronto, Ontario. He attended high school at Yeshiva Gedola Zichron Shmaryahu, then learned at the at the Yeshiva Gedola of Cliffwood, Harav Dovid Soloveitchik in Yerushalayim, and Beth Medrash Govoha in  Lakewood, NJ.  Rabbi Berkowitz founded and spearheads the Kollel Konnections program, which brings together young professionals of the Pittsburgh Jewish community for Torah learning and social events. His Wife Yocheved (Dickstien) hails from Brooklyn, NY. She currently works in the Human Resources department of Tryko, a local property management company.




                                                                                            Rabbi Moshe Gans
                                                    
Rabbi Moshe Gans was born and raised in Scranton, PA. He studied in Yeshivas Beis Moshe in Scranton (The Scranton Yeshiva), Rabbi Tzvi Kaplan’s Yeshivas Kodshim in Eretz Yisroel and in Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, NJ. Among his many areas of learning, Rabbi Gans has focused extensively on studying the complex laws related to observing shabbos, delivering a number of chaburas as well as writing on other related topics.
Tamar Gans nee Geisler was raised in Lakewood, NJ. She holds a masters degree in special education from Daemen College in Amherst, NY. She has worked as a preschool teacher at Stars preschool program in Lakewood. In Pittsburgh, she will be joining the Kollel women’s programming staff, as well as working at Hillel Academy as a Judaic Studies teacher for their early childhood program.

 Shmuel Mandelbaum

Rabbi Shmuli Mandelbaum was born and raised in Oak Park, Michigan. Upon completion of high school in Yeshiva Ohr Simcha of Englewood, NJ, he continued his studies in Yeshiva Gedolah Kesser Torah of Monsey. After spending a year in Israel learning in the Mir Yeshiva, he joined Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood. Rabbi 
Mandelbaum is known for his broad knowledge of Halacha and Mussar/Hashkafa. His warm and engaging personality generates energy in the Kollel. His wife Sora Mandelbaum (Kogos) is a registered dietitian, works for Allegheny Health clinics. She hails from Brighton, Massachusetts. 

                                                                                                                                                       

           Rabbi Chananel Shapiro

Rabbi Chananel Y. Shapiro was born and raised in Monsey, NY. His studies began in Yeshivas Ohel Torah in Monsey. He moved to Edison Yeshiva—”RJJ”—for 12th grade, as well as his Beis Medrash studies. He subsequently joined Rabbi Dovid Soloveitzik’s yeshiva in Yerushalayim, and eventually joined the Lakewood Beth Medrash Gavoha 2014. Aside from being both a skiled educator and Jewish scholar, he also enjoys a variety of sports, including baseball and basketball. His wife Rivky (Margereten) hails from Cleveland, OH. She holds a Masters in Speech-Language Pathology from West Kentucky University, and works as a speech therapist.

Rabbi Akiva Grossberg

Rabbi Grossberg comes from Staten Island, NY. After learning in the Mir Yeshivah in Brooklyn, he learned in Eretz Yisroel under Harav Dovid Soloveitchik and Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, NJ. Rabbi Grossberg joined the Kollel in July 2002 and has been teaching at Hillel Academy since 2009.The Kollel is very fortunate to have Rabbi Grossberg join the afternoon and night seder. His wife Mimi (Fiddle) teaches middle and high school girls in Hillel
Academy and leads the GO in the middle school.




Rabbi Avrohom Weisswasser

Rabbi Avrohom (Avremel) Weisswasser, a native of Toronto, learned in Yeshivah Ohr HaMeir of Peekskill, NY throughout his high school and Beis Medrash years. He learned in Eretz Yisroel by HaRav Dovid Feinstein/R’ Zev Kaplan, followed by a year in Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood. After his marriage, he moved back to Yerushalayim and continued learning for another five years until joining the Pittsburgh Kollel in 2013. Rabbi Weisswasser enjoys running the Father and Son learning program and the Shabbos afternoon Mishnayos program, which he founded. Rabbi Weisswasser teaches in Hillel Academy in the morning and joins the Kollel in the afternoon. His wife Sarah Leah (Lover) is from Detroit and teaches at Hillel Academy in the girl’s middle and high school.
